Enjoy your hard earned $160 for that speeding ticket issued by not your cops but the Ohio Highway Patrol last Sunday morning. Ya’ll suck, so you don’t even get the original version of this song.

Where'd you get zapped? Out on route 48?

OSP pulled me over in my work truck while I was on my to the dealer.
The cop claims I was given 2 commercial plates with my new registration, which I wasn’t. I was given one, and was instructed to put it on the front.
So my rear plate is just a hello kitty frame and fake plate(I did it for my autistic little cousin, shes 6, she loves Hello Kitty and thinks its funny I have it on my “big twuck”). The cop told me that I should listen to what OSP says and not, and I quote “ some office worker that hands out plates”.
I swear some OSP guys are REALLY cool and nice, but the majority are just assholes who think they own the highway.
For every 10-20 asshole OSP guys I deal with, I get one genuinely nice guy who just there to remind you of the rules, and lets you go with a verbal warning.

Why do you think Lebanon has anything to do with you getting tagged by OSP on the interstate? Pretty sure that ticket money is going to state of Ohio.

It was paid to Lebanon, at their rates, because I was in Lebanon.

Yes I was only given 1 license plate.
It’s all that’s on all my 5500 Rams. Just the front plate, with the appropriate sticker for it’s weight classification.
http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4503.21v1
“ A motor vehicle that is issued two license plates shall display the validation sticker only on the rear license plate, except that a commercial tractor that does not receive an apportioned license plate under the international registration plan shall display the validation sticker on the front of the commercial tractor. An apportioned vehicle receiving an apportioned license plate under the international registration plan shall display the license plate only on the front of a commercial tractor and on the rear of all other vehicles . All license plates shall be securely fastened so as not to swing, and shall not be covered by any material that obstructs their visibility.”
So it says there, front of truck, and rear of trailer basically.
Because if it was on the rear, the trailer would “obstruct” visibility.

Neat, I didnt know they did that. If those fucksticks would enforce ‘keep right except to pass’ I wouldn’t be so pissed about their other ticket writing.

Yeah the tickets they write get paid to the city where the offence happens

Am I the only one here who thinks $160 isn’t a very terrible ticket?

On I71? That's where my only speeding ticket is from. In a seafoam green carry no less!

By tractor they mean a vehicle that can haul a trailer/shipping container, yes?
I’m guessing you have a 5th wheel setup. That makes sense now.

I guess thats what they mean by tractor. I have a gooseneck. I couldn’t go with a 5th due to the height of one. It would have raised the front of my trailer.
I’m already close enough to the legal height limit, I didn’t need anything else to push me over.

Look into their legal definition for tractor in this sense. If a gooseneck is included, you’ll be OK.

Other than the above mentioned time, that was the first time I was hassled about it.
I was stopped by a regular state patrol car. In Ohio, they have the “Motor Carrier Enforcement” team. They are typically in Tahoes. They’re the DOT Enforcement. They’ve never said anything about my plate. Just some asshole with a micropeen and a badge.
Most Ohio SP are DOT guys. They’re familiar with DOT laws regarding trucks. Not all of them. The guy I was stopped by obviously had no experience with DOT law and was just trying to enforce a law that doesn’t apply to me.
Ohio considers a gooseneck/5th wheel the same. I called the DOT outpost closest to me. My 5500 is a “medium duty” truck. It’s specific purpose is for work. It’s registered and owned by the business. If I sold the business to someone, they’d be getting the trucks and trailers too.
This plate thing is legal, and has been that way for over a year on my specific truck, and over 2 years on the rest of them. This is the first and only instance of being stopped about my lack of rear plate. I have 1 license plate, it’s on the front. I’ll leave it there until I’m ordered to put it on the back.
